I've been thinking about the apparent correspondence between SJ and ennea-type 3. I thought, since all "standards" such as these invariably have exceptions, what an iNtuitive Perceiving type 3 would be like. I arrived at the conclusion that the behavior (achievement, image, and other usual "3-ish" concerns) might be uniquely dynamic and more original in the iNtuitive 3's than in their Sensate counterparts. The iNtuitives might be more predisposed to *creating* the cultural standards that 3's (in this case, perhaps Sensate 3's) are traditionally known to follow. I get the impression, also, that a preference for iNtuition and Perceiving, as opposed to Sensing and Judging, implies a dominant wing in 4. Am I correct in your case? ... To answer your main question (or what I could glean from it based on my knowledge), all MBTI-Enneagram rules of correspondence, though they may be true in the majority, are not universal. I have known cases of extroverted 5's and introverted 3's. The data are confusing sometimes, too. Palmer writes in her book that 9's tend to prefer iNtuition, though in Riso's book, he observes that the 9 corresponds to Jung's Introverted Sensing type. Likewise, Riso's "Extroverted Thinking" for type 1 clashes with Palmer's insistence that 1's seem to be among the more introverted types. And so on. I'm sure I said much that you already know, since you said you've read the books. But I'm just a beginner offering a helping hand. Hope I've succeeded in some way. :> -Derf 4w3
