Thanks, Derf, that *was* helpful. I do in fact have a strong 4 wing.
It is confusing that the literature contradicts itself-- or maybe is is
just that the MBTI seems so clear cut-- I mean, take the 16 variables
and you can describe anyone. The enneagram seems a bit nebulous in
that it is not as mathematical. But I do think it is a more comprehensive
(or should I say nuanced) system. Riso's developmental stage answered
one of the big problems I had with the MBTI-- namely, it seem so
obvious that there are more and less developed people of each type.
It's too bad there isn't a more direct correspondance between the two,
but it is certainly fascinating to think about it.
