Developmentally a child is supposed to bond and then separate, forming a sense of self apart from the 'other'. Nines are very comfortable in their merged state. They do not fear abandonment; they fear differentiation.

A relationship with a 9 should be very healthy for a 4. 4s need lots of warmth and nurturance. They need to feel love without fear of abandonment. On the other hand, I'm not sure it would be as healthy for the 9.
