Enneagram Main Board Archive A new Developmental theoryPosted by Dave on October 25, 1998 at 06:48:28: Try this one: American culture influences (through parents, social norms, media, peers, scholing, etc..) boys to become 3's & 8's, and girls to become 2's. Those who try to achieve that and fall short for whatever reason end up as 6's & 9's. Those who are raised in a non-traditional (by American standards) manner with values differing from these make up the development of the other types.
