: Can some one sort this out for me please? Eights are defenders of the victims of the world (help them to find justice) BUT they have little tolerance for those who show weakness (respect the strong). How can these two seemingly diametrical views exist in the same person?

: Thanks to Dave and Mykl for the advice. I'm going to wait a bit before approaching my friend - he's travelling in a few days. If you have any more to say I'm listening!

8's are power brokers and like to achieve to gain control of their environment, whatever particular environmnet that happens to be. They see the world as confrontation, so they often need someone to defend. Many 8's I have known, particularly women, have a strong parental streak and impulse. They become very protective and nurturing of those under their wing, but they demand loyalty and strength from them. Whiners aren't tolerated, sincere effort is rewarded. 8's respect those who take on more than they can chew, whether they succeed or not. The rising to the occasion engenders respect.
