Enneagram Main Board Archive I think the writer thought that "It's not OK to..." motif was really keen, and he shoehorned it in to type 4, even though it's not true for 4s *text*Posted by Diarm (194.125.148.215) on May 01, 2002 at 06:09:51: In Reply to: do you believe that about type 4? posted by Diarm (194.125.207.223) on April 30, 2002 at 11:29:39: 4s have problems with functionality and happiness, but they want those things. Dyslexic people WANT to be able to read. They don't have trouble reading because, at some level they think it's "not OK" to read. Perceived OKness isn't the problem, in other words.

I don't think fours are really anti-happiness or anti-functionality, just as a starving person isn't anti-food. > > Type Four: It's not ok to be too functional or too happy. > > And then there are the Lost Childhood Messages for each type, that we do not hear as children, that Riso thinks becomes the central issue in our lives. We want to hear these things more than anything else. When someone we know says our particular message, either directly or indirectly, we feel very close to them but don't know why. > > Lost Childhood Messages > > Type One: You are good. > > -Emily
