Thanks for enlightening me, Jukka. I've never been to England either, but by osmosis (probably not very good osmosis), I got the impression that they generally got off on being smooth and affectless, proper and diplomatic. Maybe even afraid of distinguishing themselves too much, or standing out from their surroundings. Type 9, at the "lower Levels" (Riso) supposedly corresponds to the schizoid personality disturbance (which does not produce "eccentricity" like the schizotypal disorder, but produces a reclusive, "soul-dead" (Condon) person. In the book Transformation through Insight, Claudio Naranjo describes Melville's character Bartleby (from his short story "Bartleby, the Scrivener") as an archetypal self-preservation 5, and Bartleby strikes me as "very English" (sorry, that's just one of those irreverent phrases I use). So, there is a good argument for the "England/5" hypothesis. For a "systematic" reconciliation of the problem, notice that on the 9gram model,
point 5 is directly across from the space between points 9 and 1. That's a good place to start, I think, since 5 resembles 9w1 and 1w9 (especially 1w9, I think). And a "cultural aura" is just an outer resemblance, really. Unless you're referring to the general attitude (enneatype?) that a culture prizes, or considers most typical of itself.

The "color" argument reminds me of an online "shape test," which has you choose from 9 shapes. Your preference is supposed to tell you something about yourself (in fact, I believe that the author of the site states a basis on the "9 basic personality types" for the test). There are easily-identifiable shapes for 3, 4, and 5 - actually, the description for the 5 shape leans toward 4 (wing?). Anyway, the shape whose description reminds me of type 5 is blue/violet, and the shape for type 4 is purple. The shape that was obviously type 3 was not yellow, however - the only way it reminded me of type 3 was that it looked flashy and professional - like some fashion design. For the shape test, I think the 9gram resemblences just about ended there. The other descriptions seemed to kind of merge into one another. I think there were two or three shapes that reminded me of type 6. But there was a memorable shape that was obviously type 7. Everything considered, I didn't get a clear impression of the nine 9gram types
in the shapes, which was surprising since four or five of the shapes seemed to correlate to distinct 9gram types quite well, including the colors (for 4 and 5, at least... and I think a couple of the "6" shapes were brown-ish beige-like).

Anyway, that's all I can think of right now (good thing I stop somewhere!).

Gooday,
Derf
