A couple things... Personally, I think that stretching your wings and developing different facets of yourself, even especially those that seem opposite or very different than your public or day-to-day persona, always means travelling in the right direction. But when you talk about wanting these more private things you enjoy to be taken more "seriously," I wonder "taken seriously by whom?" do you want to get more involved in these things yourself? if so, then take classes, or continue to develop on your own. Or do you want these things to be taken seriously by those close to you? Or society in general? Are you wanting to change your life or occupation, or are you just interested in further developing the side of you that responds to these more aesthetic enjoyments? Why are you feeling conflicted by this? Is the conflict to do with your own internal hierarchies about what is good to do and what is not, or are you concerned about others' views? More info, please!

I can empathize (and no, I'm not one of those "sensitive" types) with your frustration and resulting defiance, but where is this going? I'll reserve further comment until I hear from you more, but it's interesting.

> Gues its how do you break out of your persona, can you, should you? I make my living as a construction engineer building hiways and bridges, and generally rearanging the landscape. I love it! But, when I come home, I paint pretty pictures, and write pretty poems, and cook gourmet food. I really would like the latter to be taken as seriously as the former. Can it, should it?
