Yes! Michel-f---king-angelo! That's the answer. I've been obsessed with the great Buonarroti since I knew he existed. Spent nearly 2 weeks bumming around Italy tracking his work. Cried buckets in front of his Pieta in St Peter's. Never knew why. Thanks trooper. I owe you one.

> Robert Hughes - one of the most forthright, intelligent, 'sensitive', iconoclastic, entertaining art commentators/'critics' past or present. He's been with Time magazine for the last 20+ years. He used to paint and perhaps still does.

> Pablo Picasso, Michaelangelo E8/9 (who else but an E8 would have taken on and survived the excruciating hard work of crafting that enormous chapel ceiling?), Leonardo da Vinci E7/8?.

> Surely many of the Soviet artists who survived the 'systematic terror' of the regime against them - eg. Rostropovich?, Yevtoshenko the poet (I've seen him interviewed in English - which he speaks - and he's certainly E8 imo), the poetess (and harsh critic of Stalin) Anna Akhmatova. Presumably the more typical E4 'artists' have never been heard of as they didn't have the survival skills against their E8, E1, E6 and E3 persecutors - presumably they were just 'disappeared'.
