I once saw the results of a study done on a significant number of 'geniuses' (as defined in terms of 150+ IQ). Aside from concluding that this level of extreme intellect often results in maladjustment in individuals (the thesis of the study), the other two notable observations were that these individuals are generally considered slightly better-looking than average (by other people) and also suffer from a higher incidence of myopia.
Of course, like any study of this nature, it's not 100% scientific--but it does indicate a correlation between bad eyesight and extremely high intelligence. This is of course not to say that people of this level of intelligence are all 5's--but 5 does fit the 'maladjusted intellectual' stereotype for the most part. Regardless of the study, it still stands to reason that anyone who reads a lot bears a higher risk of damaged eyesight. Most 5's are heavily involved in areas that require this sort of intensive reading. Makes sense (to me). :)
