It seems to me that we cannot even rely wholly on tests to measure type - there are simply too many variables. There are many who have taken tests and not really been sure of their number until they read and recognised themselves in the type descriptions - at times, contrary to their scores....and sometimes, not even then. Personally, I think that the "typing game" is best played on the board dealing with movie or book characters. It has as much depth as this type of game can stand before it starts to fray at the edges.

I agree that the RHETI is a somewhat shaky tool for typing. An enneagram type is far more in depth than a questionaire can reveal. Its a good tool, but suject to error.
It takes time for a person to discover their own type.
I used to be a lot better at typing people, then I stumbled onto socionics.com with their visual identifications of myers-briggs types and tried that game for a while.
In short I've got so many personality theories in my head I am starting to abandon them all and just go with real time people interaction, addressing them for who they are
and not as a type.
BUt its so hard to get away from the enneagram because it is overwhelmingly real. Every person out there.
I am a 6, but where did all the 3's go?
