My gosh, you sound just like me! :P My lowest score was Six, too.
I used to like to show off, too. When I was about 9, I would do dances and gymnastic displays for groups of strangers at the mall. They were very amused - either by my skill I work well in groups unless the project is something that is so important to ME that I can't stand it being done any other way, or being tainted. I've rarely ever made meals for friends, but I've taken them shopping with me before, just for the company. :P Around the same time I had my vanity trips, I was also the messiest person you could imagine - I would pile mountains of debris into my closet, cram it shut, and tell my mother my room was clean People that jump to conclusions to easily? One of the FEW quirks about people that make me cringe. Otherwise, I'm almost unbelievably tolerant. :\ On the other hand, I'm VERY detail-oriented, and I generally prefer people to animals - not just any people, of course, because, as a conversation at work today confirmed, human beings are the only living creatures who are practically capable of evil. If there are no people, or if the people are somewhat less than felicitous, I'll usually be very pleased if there's a cat wandering nearby (there are hundreds of them roaming the streets where I live!) I prefer the country, too, but only if there's plenty of company (I'm not like the Unabomber, who wants to live in a toolshed in the middle of nowhere). Afraid to be seen as a selfish person, but you are? That sounds like 4's stress movement to 2. If you're selfish, THEY'LL ALWAYS KNOW! HA HA! THERE'S NO ESCAPE! (But you should see some of MY postings! Not too principle-oriented, but I don't believe in causing other people undue pain (I'm assuming you don't either). People who consider me to be intelligent and sensible are often surprised that I'm not a snob. That's because I got over that phase when I was VERY young (I was a terrible snob at 6 or 7). They say you have to just let kids be selfish, or they'll never develop a true desire to be unselfish. ... Now, my "high-and-mightiness" attitude (a very Fourish thing, I'm sure you know) is more self-contained. It has to do more with standards of taste. Only the best this-and-that, etc. I'll still be aware of people who "stand out" because of some exquisite (sometimes almost divine) beauty (having more to do with tacit expression than facial or physical features), but who doesn't? OK... I'm pretty sure I'm a 4 (double-winger). Maybe 3 is a little higher, but I identify greatly with 5, too. It really depends on the situiation. Basically, my social behavior is usually dominated by my wings, and I'm either very 3 (often with a 9 strain if I'm uncomfortable), or very 5. What type are you, though? Just because you seem to remind me of myself at different turns doesn't mean I'm going to start drawing an assumption. If you're a 7, you would seem to lean more toward 8 (with a 5-ish strain). If you're a 4, you seem to have a 2-ish strain, and a pretty good 3 dynamic, too. Who knows? Some people are just inexplicable. At least to me! Later - Derf PS - if you have the "Discovering Your Personality Type" book, try taking a close look at the 4 questions that compare Four and Seven. That might give you some insight. If you don't have the book, tell me and I'll post these questions.
