: Hey Derf, who did you syudy with, and which author/work do you find most enlightening.

Interesting questions, Dave - unfortunately, my answers are pretty boring. :) I have gotten a lot from all the books I've read, even the beginner-level cartoon books that treat the material only in vague outline, and make the sort of generalizations that you might find on a cut-rate sitcom ("The Enneagram Made Easy"). If I had only read Riso and Hudson, I feel that I would have missed a lot, but they are my favorites, I must say - simply because they write more broadly AND deeply on the drives, and because they have a system that reminds them to take into account the relatively healthy (and often inspiring) manifestations of the types, as well as the pathological ones (likewise, they cut *lower*, too). Riso's apparent over-reliance on intuition makes some of his hypotheses seem like shots in the dark, but even with that quirk on his part, I feel that his hits outnumber his misses.

I haven't studied with anyone yet (it's just been me and the books, and a little small talk with a few folks, so far) - but I'm getting to the stage in which I would like to seek out a teacher and a group or forum of serious-minded individuals who are as inspired by this rich and wonderful system as I am. Do you have any ideas or pointers?

Talk to you later
-Derf
