While I agree that some descriptions of the enneagram are
spurious, and that I have not always agreed with the
importance some put on parental influence, I think that
to say one is born a point is going way too far. For myself,
a five with a four wing, I look back and see that at certain
points I was most definitely a four, and wonder if I might
have moved to four under different circumstances. I know that
gets into pretty fuzzy territory, but I do really feel that
one should be cautious about grand conclusions concerning
"chicken or the egg" arguments.
