Just a few thoughts on this...
dysfunction might reveal the type, but the type in the direction of disintegration might make things more complicated, as well as certain type tendencies.
For example, a one goes to four when stressed, so many worn out ones might think they actually are fours. 3w4 might me confused for 5 or 1 because they spend a lot of time mastering their skills and honing their craft. 2w1, having stronger sense of duty and more muted interpersonal qualities than the other subtype of two can be interpreted as a 6.
I suppose that if someone gets unhealthy or in the other way healthy, the new traits might tell something about the integration/disintegration line and thereby reveal the basic type.
