Dave, okay. Now what you are saying makes more sense. You need to clarify such, as I do not know you and this medium is not condusive to nuance.

I am going through a period of ennui/depression/low energy that has been ongoing for some time. I am questioning my life path, both personal and professional. I have changed in some disturbing ways over the past seven years. I used to be much more confident. Also, I used to have a lot more courage than I do now. I ran into some very disturbing problems with family about seven years ago. Interesting because I am not close to my family.

In sum, I feel as if I have lost myself. Everything that I have fought for, everything that I have done to make myself stronger over my conscious lifetime, has been lost. I do not like what I see emerging, and I hope, quite frankly, that it's a phase and not who I am. I see a much weaker person. You have no idea, how hard that is for me to admit. Even under a fake name, in a totally anonymous medium.

Thus, my questions re: dysfunction masking type, or exaggerating it. It seems that it can do both, dependent upon the type of dysfunction.
