In Reply to: DAVE... EXCELLENT Stuff. More questions! Re: Does dysfunction mask type? posted by PseudoName on June 27, 1999 at 21:10:53:

Glad you like the sharing of info, and the electronic banter!
As to your questions:

> Throwing out random questions: Do the trialectic points always act in a linear, clockwise fashion?
------------------------------------------------
The inner connections are predominantly in non-linear time, that is they are not directly cause and effect related from exterior events (it's the perception of external events that does it). You can move with or against the arrows just by inner process and thought.

If so, why or why not? Why not gestalt? Why clockwise?
-------------------------------------------
Good questions. They are based on observations of the world, inner and outer, and appear to be laws of the psyche. Kind of like how gravity pulls to the center of the earth only.

Why not Gestalt? Hmmmmm, I don't see why not, though I've never seen or heard of that as a possibility. I would speculate that as one transcends and releases one's ego-fixation (ie. type) it becomes more gestalt in process.

Can motivational energy be so 'close' that two or more types intertwine? Your example suggests that it is that impossible by the nature of motivation and attention.
------------------------------------------
There are distinct points, but they do blur. That's why it's hard to tell if , for example, one is ore a 4w5, or 5w4 if the wing is very strong. SOme nneagram teachers say we can have 2 primary points, but most doubt it, as do I.

To segue, how does one unstick one's attention?
---------------------------------------------
NOW THIS IS THE BEST QUESTION ANYONE HAS EVER ASKED! SO MANY ARE FIXED ON ENCYCLOPEDIC DESCRIPTIONS OF TYPING AND NOT THE REAL WORK OF GETTING FREE FROM THEM!

Why is the sky blue? (actually, I know that one).
----------------------------------------------
Is it blue ;).
