I am constantly facing this need of whether to put myself or others first. I am VERY aware (and pretty much always have been) of this constant tug-of-war. How do you deal with it (now that you are "aware" of it)? I know for me, the ideal answer is to maintain an even balance of keeping both people's interests evenly met, but it is VERY difficult balance to maintain. Ideally, the best way to determine that balance is obviously with the other person's input, but there are many times when the other person is not around and you are forced to answer on the spot without their input. Hard choices indeed.
