Dunno Ev... never really given it much thought. I think I read quite fast relative to other people (my main source for comparison being people's slower reactions to subtitled movies). But I definitely have a need to assimilate every word in sequence... Many times I read a sentence and stop to go back and read it over again three times because when I initially read it something popped out of order and confused me. I don't think I could ever handle speed-reading. I have a cousin who reads incredibly fast... he's an S though (ESTJ 8) (and incredibly gifted to boot).. I think much of the difference in terms of assimilation of external data can be put down to S/N processing styles... N's immediately seek the meaning behind the words, for S's it's much easier to just flow more quickly and take things literally.
