: I am a Type 4, so I have already more passions than I can handle. My mother is a Type 1, and she doesn't even know what her passions are. Recently an old college friend of hers asked her casually what her passions are, and I think it was an awakening for her when she couldn't come up with an answer. She is entirely work/responsibility driven. : I'm wondering if there are healthy Ones out there who would be willing to share what their interests and passions are. This includes hobbies and the like, and on a deeper level, the themes that drive their lives. Well, I wouldn't put myself in the healthy category, but if you're willing to hear from a high average: I enjoy games, particularly ones that challenge my verbal or logical skills (strategy games, word games, etc.). I have an affinity for architecture and urban planning issues. I love to study languages and am in the process of translating the works of Confucius from classical Chinese into English -- sure, it's been done lots of times before, but I wanted to get as complete an understanding of the original as I could, and that necessitated being able to work with the source. I'm a political junkie, though I'm not sure how good a politician I'd be (probably not very good at all). And since I'm here, I suppose I'm hooked on the enneagram also. : I don't know much about One, so I'm trying to understand my mother better and help her understand her Oneness.
You know what's good? The dynamic diagrams in the back of "Personality Types" (Riso/Hudson) and the basic fears, basic desires and Recommendations in "Understanding the Enneagram" (Riso). Much clarity to be found there.
