The problem (as I see it) with Myers-Briggs types is that variability is
built-in: the ultimate goal is to bring all of one's imbalances into
balance, effectively becoming NO type. A person might start off as an INTP,
then become an INTJ and later an ENTJ and still be very much the same
person responding to different environmental factors. To me, that
undermines the value of associating people with types in the first place.
That's why I appreciate enneagram theory: It accommodates a wide range of
behaviors while positing a constant underlying temperament and/or
motivation.
