Fact that women in their 30's are at their sexual peak - don't think it has anything to do w/variant. Most of my 30's friends, male and female, are quite content not to have a lifetime partner. A great many of them have created lives that they are happy with, and are in the process of serial monogamy, or serial non monogamy...

On another note, perhaps during adolesence, the social factor is more pronounced, but I think flavored by variant, which is probably set at a very young age, as are most primary personality characteristics... I think the going rate now is that it's set by age 4, though I'm not sure.

As to biological clocks, I used to poo poo all that. Now, while I may have the momentary urge to spawn a rug rat, I keep it firmly in check, as I have no true desire for kids. (Me, self-preservation. Sensual, yes, other oriented, not very much. There are enough people procreating, I'm sure someone will make up for my lack of contribution to the gene pool).

Still, there is always the fascination of rounding out one's character via the experience of having children, and of leaving a legacy, though neither are the reason to have children, IMO.
