I find it pretty interesting, because it's usually considered that 2/3 of
the US population are extroverts and 1/3 introverts. Here we have about half
introverted. The percentage of the extroverted sensors really isn't that
much behind, I somehow have the feeling many people who seemingly are extroverted
actually can be introverts and at least some introverted extroverts. I've read about
"shy extroverts" who have E preference but are at the same time so self-conscious they
prefer to keep with themselves. Amanda has posted here about differeneces of
the E/I preference as it shows up in MBTI compared to immediate behavior, it was in
June, I think but I can't remember the title.

I checked the website (briefly) but couldn't find any information on how the data
has been collected, but there was an interesting table about distribution of
temperaments in educational groups (link here). 76% of "Counselor education majors"
NF's...and there are very few SP teachers.

I'd say it might be initial assumptions about type distributions have been just
just assumptions.
