Enneagram Main Board Archive error...error...errorPosted by rev. dr. dave on September 29, 1999 at 13:46:48: pardon me, i've been away from the board for a while... imagine my amusement when i returned to find and follow the screaming christian error threads. as an ordain minister, i use the enneagram as a tool to help people learn about themselves. jesus was a wisdom teacher, a master of knowledge. his ministry is one which calls all of us to learn as much as we can about god's creation. that includes, i think, our own personalities and theories of personality in general. any intelligent person can see that our unknown friend is confusing the diagram of the enneagram with the various symbols of occult/satanist/idiot groups. our friend does not have the capacity to see that the image itself is a diagram, a visual metaphor, for a system of thought. it is a metaphor as striking in its beauty and simplicity as the cross or the fish, the star of david, or e=mcsquared. our unknown friend must remember that jesus did not fear ideas. his ministry is in fact very much about a single idea: that we all have access to god without intermediaries. it was such a powerful idea that he lost his life proclaiming it. our unknown friend is simply fearful, but he/she need not be afraid. the only ritual associated with the enneagram is thinking. cheers!
